As part of Action 7.7 Universities and Regional Development, IMAP embarked on a project to improve and strengthen the participation of Councils in tertiary students' "Work Integrated Learning" activities, and through this, strengthen and improve the relationships between local government and the tertiary education sector.

IMAP identified that Council managers often do not have established networks in place to access tertiary students for work experience or to undertake project work. Often there are no processes in place to assist managers.

This project has developed resource material for Councils and other employers to access and modify to assist them in accessing students, from providing answers to Frequently Asked Questions through to providing a full list of University courses and contacts that can be followed up directly.
